Keep more than one option open
Racing a single token ahead feels satisfying, but it can leave you with few choices. When the rules and roll allow it, consider bringing another token out. More tokens on the track can give you alternatives when your leading token cannot move.
Count the risk before a capture
A capture is tempting. Before taking it, look at where your token will land and which opponents could reach that square next. Sending someone back may be worth the risk, but it is not automatically your best move.
Use safe squares with a purpose
A safe square can protect a token while you advance another. Staying there forever will not get you home, though. Reassess when the board changes, especially after an opponent passes you.
Think about the next turn
Compare two legal moves instead of choosing the first one you notice. Does one move leave a token exposed? Does another get a slow token closer to its home lane? A quick scan is more useful than searching for a perfect strategy.
Plan an exact-roll finish
Near the end, a token may need a particular number to finish. If you have another token available, you can still make progress while waiting for that roll. Avoid leaving all your attention on the token closest to home.
Skip guaranteed-win promises
No move sequence can guarantee a win in a dice game. Treat advice as a way to make more thoughtful decisions. A well-played turn can still end badly after an unlucky roll—and that is part of Ludo.
